Job Title: Drilling Machine Operator Job Summary: The Drilling Machine Operator is responsible for operating the surface drill rig for efficient and precise drilling in mining, quarrying, and construction projects. The operator ensures safe drilling operations, optimal machine performance, and adherence to project specifications. Key Responsibilities:Operate the Drilling Machine for production and development drilling.Set up and position the rig accurately as per drilling plans and coordinates.Execute drilling operations including collaring, hole alignment, and depth control.Monitor machine parameters such as feed pressure, rotation speed, penetration rate, and air pressure.Utilize onboard automation systems and control panels effectively.Perform pre-start checks, routine inspections, and preventive maintenance.Identify faults and carry out basic troubleshooting of hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems.Ensure proper handling and usage of drill rods, bits, and consumables.Maintain drilling logs, shift reports, and equipment records.Coordinate with blasting, survey, and site engineering teams.Follow strict safety standards and ensure proper use of PPE at all times. Skills & Qualifications:Hands-on experience operating Drilling Machines or similar top hammer drill rigs.Knowledge of surface drilling techniques and blast hole drilling.Familiarity with automated drilling systems and rig control interfaces.Basic understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.Ability to read drilling patterns, layouts, and technical drawings.Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Education & Experience:High school diploma or ITI/Diploma in Mechanical/Mining/Heavy Equipment.36 years of experience in drilling operations (preferably with SmartROC or similar rigs).OEM or site certification for drill rig operation is an advantage. Working Conditions:Outdoor work in mining, quarry, or large infrastructure sites.Exposure to dust, vibration, noise, and extreme weather conditions.Rotational shifts, extended hours, and remote site deployment may be required.
