Software Development Manager @ Topya

As the Software Development Manager, you and your team will bring our existing applications up to the latest standards and develop new applications that drive our global business forward. This position is expected to be a 50/50 split between hands-on software development and leadership, though every day will be different and may lean more towards management as the team grows. You will need to balance fast-paced delivery with longer-term strategic goals and be responsible for applications from conception through implementation and deployment. In a typical day, you may be working with our product teams in India, the US and the UK to define and prioritize your team's work, or with our US-based Platform Center of Excellence on the evolution of our platform's capabilities, architecture, and infrastructure. Working closely with your team, you will keep them on track and help them move forward when they are stuck. At the end of the day, you will know that your team has delivered excellent quality because you have reviewed the code and architectural choices, identifying and remediation of any gaps in code quality or developer skill. This role reports to the Chief Technology Officer and is part of the Application Design and Development group. 

Requirements  

• 5+ years of hands-on development, building and maintaining PHP applications in core PHP and with various frameworks. 
• 2+ years in a leadership role within a development team, including meeting delivery expectations, setting best practices and mentoring team members. 
• Ability to implement Usable, Responsive (mobile) web applications.
• Experience working in an agile methodology, led by a product management group. Previous use of JIRA is a plus.
• Expert knowledge of SQL and database systems.
• Expertise with git and common workflows (branches, pull requests, etc). Knowledge of Bitbucket is a plus.
• A DevOps mindset, or the desire to embrace it. B.E/B.Tech in Computer Science or other technical degrees.
• A candid professional who communicates effectively and directly in written and spoken English.

Nice to have:

• Breadth of knowledge spanning several additional Frontend languages & frameworks, such as Python/Django or Ruby on Rails. Especially including Javascript with Angular, React or Vue.js. 
• Knowledge of Azure and/or AWS platforms, especially continuous deployment, DevOps patterns and infrastructure as code.
• Familiarity with C# .NET or native mobile application development.
