Job Description
- Responsible for special assignments and completes them accurately and timely
- Accountable for complete patient care in the assigned area/ ward
- Makes a complete & quick assessment of patients on admission / at the beginning of the shifts and documents the same.
- Performs patient assessment and reassessment including risk assessment, skin assessment, history taking, escalation of critical lab values, formulates nursing care plan as per the assessment and document them appropriately
- Endorses patients and assigned tasks to the next shift completely and correctly
- Providing Nursing care as per protocols: including periodic vital recording, administration of IV fluids and medications, and blood transfusions, recording of ECG, maintaining personal hygiene, preparing for /getting done the investigations etc.
- Performs nursing procedures such as IV cannulation, sample collection, Ryles tube feeding, tracheostomy suctioning and assists in procedures such as suturing/ suture removal, dressing, lumbar puncture, pleural/ ascetic tapping etc.
- Demonstrates awareness of potential /actual risks of infection and modes of transmission and follows infection control protocols
- Maintains continuity of care through clear and concise (verbal and written) communication.
- Maintains required quantity of medicines, CSSD and medical consumables
- Maintains confidentiality in matters related to patient and family.
- Reports patient condition to appropriate personnel as required without delay.
- Implements emergency life resuscitative measures according to BLS protocols.
- Documents care rendered in clear, complete, and concise manner and in compliance with protocols.
- Undertakes patient and family education and documents the same.
- Participates actively in the unit-based and organizational quality improvement programs.
- Provides a safe environment for patients, staff, family and visitors.
- Uses equipment safely and efficiently and takes responsibility of the inventory of the unit.
- Make entries in Hospital Information System correctly and accurately
- Upholds the nursing code of ethics and acts as a role model to other staff Members.
- Facilitates smooth discharge as per the protocols and doctors advice.
- Performs nursing procedures in accordance with the protocols as in nursing manual
- Demonstrates willingness to accommodate the staffing requirements
