Job Description
Job Duties:
- Use it systems to manage stock levels, delivery times and transport costs
- Use associated information systems to coordinate and control the order cycle
- Use data from it systems to evaluate performance and quality and to plan improvements
- To allocate and manage staff resources according to changing needs
- To manage staff
- Liaising and negotiating with customers and suppliers
- To develop business by gaining new contracts, analyzing logistical problems and producing new solutions
- To understand, work with and possibly help to develop e-commerce
- Continually try to improve and develop business performance within the constraints of legislation, fuel costs and rising environmental pressures
- Implement health and safety procedures
- To manage staff training issues
- To motivate other members of the team
- Set objectives
- Plan and manage projects
- To do work on new supply strategies
- To plan vehicle routes
- To use specialist knowledge, such as mechanical-handling systems.
- Required Skills:
- Proven working experience as a logistics manager
- Record of successful distribution and logistics management
- Demonstrable ability to lead and manage staff
- Proficient in standard logistics software
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects
- BS in Business administration, logistics or supply chain
- Experience dealing with conflict
- Comfort in a team environment
