About the Role :
Plans , analyzes , designs , implements , maintains , and controls the organizations Teradata databases.
Consults with and provides guidance to database users and client groups , often recommending tactical and strategic solutions. Responsibilities:

• Plans , analyzes , designs , implements , maintains , and controls the organizations databases.

  Consults with and provides guidance to database users and client groups , often recommending tactical and strategic solutions.
• 
  Performs moderately complex server-class database activities across various platforms and environments including one or more of the following:
• moderate to complex programming and coding to automate and/or support the database environment; performance monitoring and tuning; analyzing database metrics and assisting with capacity planning; planning , testing , configuration and execution of installations , upgrades and migrations; and implementing security controls.
• 
  Leads , mentors and/or provides guidance to less experienced database analysts , where applicable , including guidance for troubleshooting escalated issues.
• Should have thorough knowledge on the Data warehousing concepts and on the teradata products.
• Support multiple Teradata systems including production and non production by managing the database objects such as users , roles , profiles etc.
• Proficient in implementing the query fine tuning techniques including work load management.
• Responsible for reviewing and implementing the database object changes .
• Manage/Monitor system performance and should be able to implement holistic standards.
• Support unix level process , scripts and tools for the system management .
• Hands on experience on the products like query grid , dsa , datamover and unity , Netbackup.
• Support the new environment setups and trouble shoot the issues of BAR system and their storage management systems.
• Work with teradata gsc in resolving the incidents and coordinate on the change controls .
• Should be able to plan and schedule changes by coordinating with stakeholders and the vendor.
• Responsible to install , configure and upgrade teradata software and its related products including the Database and the operating system.
• Proactively monitor the database systems to ensure services with minimum down time.
• implement the administer access policies in conjunction to the corporate policies.
• Well versed understanding on the DBMS configuration settings .
• Good knowledge on scandisk , packdisk , checktable and other system utilities .
• Experience in system expansions , migration activities and new system set up activities.
• Should be able to perform the root cause analysis on the issues and provide subject matter expertise where ever needed.
