JOB TITLE:: Senior DevOps Engineer "Cloud Operations Expert" (f/m/d)
PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES
The Technology & Innovation (T&I) board area is responsible for SAP Business Technology Platform the platform for the Intelligent Enterprise that includes technologies like SAP Integration Suite, SAP Extension Suite, SAP HANA, SAP Analytics, and Intelligent Technologies. The T&I board area is also in charge of SAP s global innovation agenda and builds new business model- and market-driven innovations to help customers realize the most business value.
Our T&I Cloud Operations team, with locations in Bengaluru, Sofia, Walldorf, Berlin, and Vancouver, is responsible for the operations of all SAP Business Technology Platform cloud services delivered to our internal and external customers. We ensure the 7/24 System Monitoring, Incident management, drive improvements via our problem management process, create transparency via our reports, meetings, and communication channels, and support development teams with coordination on change management and cloud operation compliance topics. We work very closely with all T&I product development teams according to the DevOps principles and set up our team in the SRE model. We drive and align process and tool improvements together with other cloud operation teams and all central teams.
For our T&I Cloud Operations team in Bengaluru, we are looking for a Cloud Operations Expert
You will work in our Cloud Engineering Team and proactively drive automation, continuous improvement of productive landscapes, coordinate incident management across the layers and development teams. We are looking for energetic result oriented, solution engineers with broad technical knowledge around PaaS (Platform), SaaS (Services), Infrastructure (IaaS) to develop and/or enhance critical components and Tools. Development, automation would be expected that enable efficient day-to-day Cloud Operations.
Play a significant role in the team to provide, protect and improve the software and systems behind productive services of SAP Busines Technology Platform with an ever-watchful eye on their availability, performance, and capacity.
EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS
Build Tools and Framework
Develop needed Automation.
Continuously improve monitoring, tooling, processes, etc
Evolve Incident management & Problem management process
Define and Design technical tasks to ensure efficient delivery of various tools.
Support core tasks across multi-cloud platforms and services with a customer-oriented mindset.
Contribute to operations model/operational processes and procedures for efficiency
Solution centric attitude to our business-critical services.
Conduct periodic on-call duties when required in the follow-the-sun model.
Achieve effective results by engaging in continuous improvement activities
Work closely and collaborate across roles, functions, as well as with colleagues in other teams and countries
Role Requirements
Good understanding of ITIL processes
Very good knowledge of Cloud Computing SaaS, PaaS, IaaS fundamentals and experience
Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills to challenge complexity with a Live Site first / Customer-oriented mindset.
Experience in driving continuous improvements around monitoring, tooling, process, and handling impediments.
Taking ownership and accountability of overall on-time delivery with quality, meeting KPIs, and driving automation
Excellent communication skills both verbal and written, with the ability to work and contribute in globally distributed teams
Be responsible for driving technology and engineering best practices in the teams
Perform development tasks in a self-reliant way, on time, and in quality, and be a go-to person in the team.
Drive customer escalations and stakeholder management.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Networking and Security and with 10+ years of experience required.
Required skills
Good knowledge of Server & Virtualization technologies
Good knowledge in Programming Java/J2EE, Python, Node js, Javascript, Shell scripting, etc) and SQL
Experience in handling Incident management & problem management process
DevOps: Terraform, Ansible, Dynatrace
Development (Automation) Knowledge
Agility and Adaptability
Critical Thinking and Problem Solving
Excellent experience working with hyperscalers like Microsoft Azure, AWS, GCP.
Experience leading a 24x7 team of strong and passionate engineers with strong customer-focus and KPI driven approach.
Preferred skills
ITIL Foundation Certificate is a plus.
Good Knowledge of Cloud Computing is a Plus.
EXPERIENCE
9+ years of hands-on technical experience with working on large scale cloud operations
Hands-on experience working with hyperscalers like Microsoft Azure, AWS, GCP.
Good experience in designing and developing cloud operation tools.
Strong communication and presentation skills with experience working with globally distributed teams
Experience leading complex projects and technical programming skills
