Job Description
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Fulfill the role of Primary Release Manager for all Major and Minor Releases. Can also be asked to fill the role of Secondary Release Manager in periods of absence.
- Responsible for the approval and management of all changes within an assigned release.
- Responsible for the management and approval of all Emergency Releases.
- Day to day management of the releases
- Complete ad-hoc tasks as assigned by the Lead/Senior Release Manager.
Qualifications & Experience:
The ideal candidate should have a recognized third level IT qualification and demonstrate awareness and understanding of ITIL framework, preferably with formal accreditation.
- ITSM Systems e.g., Service Now, Remedy, JIRA etc.,
- Microsoft suite including Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio, Project
- Knowledge of the key functions within an IT organization
- Knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
- Understanding of current project management methodologies
- Knowledge of the Release management function including an understanding of the key phases of a release & Release Management responsibility in each of these phases
- Experience working in a release management function where management of best practices was illustrated
- Awareness of and experience creating release documentation
- Understanding of the ITIL framework including Change/Release Types, the functions (particularly Change Management) and how these interact with Release Management
- Knowledge of Release Management interaction with other teams such as Project Management, Application Management Support (AMS), Demand Management, Code Deployment, Region Management, Development, QA, UAT, GBTS Deployment Engineers, Service Desk
