Job Description

New York University: NYU - NY: Arts and Science (A&S): Physics Department Location 726 Broadway Open Date Aug 23, 2024 Description This position is to perform research on the synthesis and self-assembly of colloidal particles for photonic crystals. The Pine group recently developed a method to self-assemble colloidal diamond using tetrahedral clusters with DNA-coated patches [Nature 585, 524-529 (2020)]. In this position, a postdoctoral associate would develop new methods of synthesis and self-assembly that go beyond DNA-mediated interactions and use charge, depletion, and other interactions to self-assemble crystals with new symmetries principally for photonic applications. The work would also involve incorporating quantum dots and other emitters into the photonic crystals to explore the crystals non-Hermitian and topological photonic properties. The work involves collaboration with an interdisciplinary team of chemists, physicists, chemical engineers, and materials scientists. Qualifications PhD,
