Job Description:

Installation and Configuration:

• Install and configure WebSphere Application Server on various platforms (Windows, Linux etc. ).
• Configure WebSphere cells, nodes, profiles and application servers.
• Configure data sources, JMS providers, and other resources required for applications.

Application Deployment and Management:

• Deploy and help applications teams in automated deployment on WebSphere servers.
• Monitor application performance and troubleshoot issues.
• Manage application security and access control.

Performance Tuning and Optimization:

• Monitor system performance and identify bottlenecks.
• Tune WebSphere configuration parameters to optimize performance.
• Analyze system logs to identify and resolve performance issues.

Backup and Recovery:

• Implement backup and recovery procedures for WebSphere configurations and data.
• Perform backups of the WebSphere environment when required.
• Test the backup and recovery procedures to ensure they work as expected.
• Restore the WebSphere environment in case of failures or disasters.

Security:

• Implement security measures to protect the WebSphere environment from unauthorized access.
• Configure security policies and role-based access control.
• Monitor security logs for suspicious activity.
• Apply security patches and updates to the WebSphere environment.
• Thorough knowledge of Keytab, SSO and AES encryption

Troubleshooting and Problem Solving:

• Diagnose and resolve issues with WebSphere applications and infrastructure.
• Analyze system logs and error messages to identify the root cause of problems.
• Implement workarounds or fixes to resolve issues.
• Coordinate with other teams (e. g. , network, database) to resolve complex problems.

Capacity Planning:

• Assess the current and future capacity needs of the WebSphere environment.
• Plan for capacity expansion to accommodate growth.
• Monitor resource utilization and adjust capacity as needed.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Stay up-to-date with the latest WebSphere technologies and best practices.
• Provide technical support to application developers and other stakeholders as and when required.
• Document procedures, SOP and processes for future reference.

Must have sound knowledge of connectivity between WAS and MSSQL Server and WAS and DB2.
