Job Description
We are seeking a seasoned Technical Proposal Writer to join our growing team who will work closely with our operations and sales teams to develop comprehensive and compelling responses to Requests for Proposal (RFPs) that are compliant with requirements and capture the attention of prospective clients. The proposal writer should articulate differentiators, strengths, and client insights by citing specific work performed, issues resolved, and metrics that meet or exceed the RFP requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Leads the development of an effective storyline that clearly and concisely presents our company's strengths, differentiators, and value proposition in the context of customer insights through close collaboration with the account sales team, subject matter experts (SMEs), solutions team and other teams
- Collaborates with SMEs to translate concepts into compelling written material and conducts interviews with SMEs/SAs to translate solution ideas into colloquial terms in the written response, including defining and using graphics effectively to support written text
- Works closely with the proposal manager, editor, SMEs, and graphics/production to ensure the development of high quality content for each proposal that accurately reflects the work being performed
- Completes assigned proposal sections on time with few, if any, rewrites
- Writes proposal sections in other areas, as necessary
- Reads and analyzes RFPs and develops technical proposal content
- Provides detail editing in support of already developed sections
- Creates/Draws initial graphs, charts and other visual aids for insertion into technical proposals
- Supports proposal operations by participating in proposal kick-offs and reviews
- Organizes and prepares information and data for use in a wide variety of complex technical proposals and publications requiring in-depth knowledge of the subject matter and allied fields)
Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree from an accredited college/university in Management, Management Information Systems, Marketing, Technical Writing, Communications. or related field
- At least 5+ years of technical proposal experience supporting proposal responses to RFP opportunities
- Experience in government proposal writing required
- Knowledge and familiarity with technical areas like application development, information technology, cyber security, cloud and virtual computing, Big Data, or other technical areas is a must
- 3+ years of experience with producing technical publications
- Ability to create content for a variety of use cases, varying objectives and differing requirements
- Thorough knowledge of technical writing principles, practices, and standards
- Good understanding of service and solution industry & the a bility to write for the US market.
- Experience in preparing documentation with minimal input (written or verbal) from subject matter experts, such as design engineers and program managers, to prepare initial drafts and templates
- Understanding of internal technical reference documentation, including data libraries, training material, process/procedure guides
