Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled DevOps Migration Specialist to lead and execute the migration of Azure DevOps (ADO) assetsincluding repositories, pipelines, permissions, and work itemsto GitHub. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in GitHub Enterprise, CI/CD transformation, and experience with both Git-based and TFVC repositories. The role requires deep understanding of YAML pipelines, GitHub Actions, and integration with issue tracking tools such as Jira.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end migration of ADO components to GitHub, using tools such as GitHub Enterprise Importer.
- Migrate permissions, repos (Git/TFVC), pipelines (classic and YAML), and extensions.
- Transition work items and boards from ADO to GitHub Issues or integrate with 3rd-party tools like JIRA.
- Reconfigure pipelines into GitHub-native YAML workflows ensuring parity with legacy functionality.
- Migrate and validate ADO extensions for GitHub compatibility and usage.
- Coordinate with stakeholders for pre-migration assessment, cutover planning, and post-migration validation.
- Ensure secure and compliant handling of user roles, access control, and integrations.
- Provide technical documentation and training support to teams during the transition.
Required Skills:
- Hands-on experience in Azure DevOps (Boards, Pipelines, Repos) and GitHub (including Enterprise version).
- Strong knowledge of Git, TFVC, YAML pipelines, and GitHub Actions.
- Familiarity with migration tools like GitHub Enterprise Importer or custom scripts.
- Understanding of permission models, CI/CD workflows, and DevOps governance.
- Experience with JIRA or other issue tracking systems.
- Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
