Manager Software Engineering - React, Angular, UI @ Optum

We are looking for a seasoned and visionary Software Engineering Manager to lead our high-performing development team based in Hyderabad. This role is ideal for a technology leader with a strong foundation in software development, cloud architecture, and team leadership. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving end-to-end software delivery, from requirement gathering to deployment, while ensuring alignment with business goals and technical excellence.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Technical Leadership
  • Architect and design scalable, secure, and high-performance applications
  • Provide hands-on technical guidance across frontend, API, and database layers
  • Champion best practices in software engineering, including code quality, testing, and CI/CD
  • Leverage Microsoft Azure services for cloud-native application development and deployment
• Project & Delivery Management
  • Own the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) for multiple projects
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to define project scope and timelines
  • Track progress, manage risks, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality software solutions
  • Drive Agile Scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives
• Team & People Management
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of software engineers through coaching and performance management
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture focused on innovation and continuous improvement
  • Conduct regular 1:1s, career development planning, and technical upskilling initiatives
• Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
  • Act as a key liaison between engineering and business teams
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications and actionable plans
  • Prepare and present technical documentation, project updates, and architecture reviews to leadership
  • Ensure clear and proactive communication across all levels of the organization

Required Qualifications:

• 10+ years of experience in software development, with 3+ years in a leadership or managerial role
• Solid hands-on experience in:
  • Frontend technologies (e.g., React, Angular, or similar)
  • API development (RESTful services, GraphQL)
  • Database systems (SQL/NoSQL)
• Experience with version control systems like Git and repository management practices
• Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure cloud platform (App Services, Azure Functions, DevOps, etc.)
• Solid understanding of Agile methodologies and project management tools (e.g., Jira, Azure Boards)
• Proven track record in application architecture and system design
• Proven excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect, Azure Developer Associate)
• Experience working in a global or distributed team environment
