Job Description
Job Title: Team Lead Medical Coder
Location: Vizag (Visakhapatnam), Andhra Pradesh
Work Mode: Onsite (WFO-5.5 DAYS WORKING)
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Team Lead Medical Coder to join
our team at the Vizag office. The Team Lead will oversee a group of medical coders,
ensure accurate and timely coding, monitor quality and productivity, provide
guidance, and act as the main point of contact between team members and
management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise, mentor, and train a team of medical coders to achieve defined
quality, accuracy, and productivity targets.
- Allocate work, track team performance, and ensure deadlines are consistently
met.
- Conduct regular audits of coded charts to maintain compliance with industry
standards (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, etc.) and client requirements.
- Provide feedback, coaching, and development plans for team members.
- Participate in the recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing training of medical
coders.
- Serve as a subject-matter expert, assisting team members with complex
coding issues and escalations.
- Liaise with management and other departments to communicate updates,
process changes, and client requirements.
- Prepare and share performance reports, highlight concerns, and work on
corrective actions as needed.
- Stay updated on changes in coding guidelines, payer requirements, and
regulatory policies.
- Ensure adherence to data privacy and confidentiality requirements at all
times.
Requirements:
- Graduate in Life Sciences, Paramedical Science, or related field. Advanced
degrees/certifications (CPC, CCS, CCA, etc.) preferred.
- Minimum 8-12 years of experience in medical coding with at least 3-5
years in a supervisory or Team Lead role.
- In-depth knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT/HCPCS, and medical terminology.
- Strong team management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Hands-on experience with medical coding software, EHRs, and MS Office
tools.
- Ability to work independently and under tight deadlines.
- Commitment to accuracy, confidentiality, and ethical coding practices.
Preferred:
- Previous experience working for US healthcare clients.
- Exposure to denial management and revenue cycle management processes.
- Active coding certification(s).
