Job Description
Summary:
Need a highly experienced Embedded Project Manager to lead complex embedded software development and testing projects in the Avionics domain.
The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in managing full lifecycle projects in systems such as FMS, FCS, FWS , and other safety-critical applications, ideally within DO-178B/C compliance frameworks.
This role requires strong technical oversight, exceptional customer and stakeholder management, and a proven ability to deliver fixed-price contracts on time and within budget.
- Project Leadership: End-to-end ownership of embedded avionics software development and V&V (Verification and Validation) projects.
- Planning & Execution: Define project scope, objectives, detailed schedules, resource plans, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Customer Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for global customers; ensure clear communication of requirements, milestones, and changes.
- Fixed-Price Delivery: Manage strict cost, schedule, and quality constraints; drive project profitability while ensuring compliance with contractual terms.
- Technical Oversight: Coordinate with technical leads for system design, integration, and testing activities on embedded platforms.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, quality, systems, safety, and certification teams.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to aerospace standards including DO-178B/C, and company-specific quality processes.
- Reporting & Documentation: Track KPIs, create project status reports, and escalate issues proactively.
- Team Management: Lead and mentor project teams; provide performance feedback and support career development.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 12 14+ years of total experience in Embedded Systems Project Management , with a strong focus on Avionics .
- Understanding of Flight Management Systems (FMS), Flight Control Systems (FCS), Flight Warning Systems (FWS) .
- Proven experience managing fixed-price and milestone-based projects .
- Strong knowledge of DO-178B/C , ARINC 653 , and RTCA/EUROCAE standards .
- Familiarity with tools like DOORS, JIRA, MS Project, Configuration Management systems , etc.
- Exceptional communication, stakeholder, and customer management skills .
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams , often in a global and distributed environment.
- PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent certification is a plus
- Experience in understanding the technical part of the project SCOPE.
- Experience in project complexity analysis and estimation
- Experience in work allocation, support to the team and have interaction with the customer
- Experience in defining and maintaining of the quality of the deliverables
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master s or Bachelor s degree in Electronics, Electrical, Aerospace Engineering , or related fields.
- Experience working with major aerospace OEMs (Airbus, Boeing, etc. ) or Tier-1 suppliers.
- Exposure to Agile/Scrum practices in safety-critical systems is an added advantage.
- Experience in proposal writing, project bidding, and pre-sales technical support is a plus.
