Job Description
The Cath Lab Nurse plays a critical role in providing high-quality care to patients undergoing cardiac procedures in the catheterization laboratory. This position involves preparing and assisting with diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures while ensuring patient safety and comfort. The nurse will collaborate closely with cardiologists, radiologists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive care. Key responsibilities include monitoring patient vital signs, administering medications, assisting with sterile techniques, and providing education to patients and their families about procedures and post-operative care.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for catheterization procedures, ensuring they understand the process and addressing any concerns.
- Monitor and assess patients vital signs and overall condition before, during, and after procedures.
- Assist physicians in performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures within the cath lab.
- Administer medications and maintain IV access as required.
- Ensure proper care and maintenance of cath lab equipment.
- Maintain sterile field and adhere to infection control protocols.
- Document patient care and assist in maintaining accurate medical records.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding recovery and lifestyle changes post-procedure.
- Respond promptly to emergencies and participate in resuscitation when necessary. Skills Required:
