Job Description
Experience: 0.6 - 3 years (Fresh MSW graduates can also apply)
Qualification: Masters in Social Work (MSW) or equivalent
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Provide emotional and psychological support to patients and their families during hospitalization.
- Conduct counselling sessions for patients dealing with stress, trauma, chronic illnesses, or major procedures.
- Guide patients and families through hospital processes, treatment adherence, and discharge-related concerns.
- Identify socio-economic challenges faced by patients and connect them with NGO/government schemes, financial aid, or support services.
- Support doctors, nurses, and patient care teams in addressing psychosocial needs of patients.
- Handle grievance redressal sensitively and escalate when required.
- Conduct awareness and educational sessions for patients on wellness, rehabilitation, lifestyle changes, and preventive health.
- Document counselling sessions and maintain confidentiality of patient information.
- Assist with patient feedback collection and work closely with the Patient Experience team to ensure service recovery.
- Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams (social workers, psychologists, doctors, nursing, and patient care advisors) to provide holistic care.
- Engage in crisis intervention for emergency or critical cases (ICU, Oncology, Psychiatry, etc.).
Skills Required:
- Excellent communication, empathy, and listening skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with confidentiality and compassion.
- Knowledge of counselling techniques, mental health, and social work practices.
- Problem-solving and conflict resolution abilities.
- Comfort in working in a hospital environment with diverse patient populations.
