 Desktop Support Engineer

Job Description

We are looking for a proactive and customer-focused Desktop Support Engineer to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting hardware, software, and other IT-related issues to ensure smooth day-to-day operations for end-users.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Provide first-level support to end-users for hardware, software, and networking issues.
  • Install, configure, and maintain desktop and laptop computers, printers, scanners, and other peripherals.
  • Set up and support user accounts, permissions, email, and Active Directory profiles.
  • Troubleshoot operating system issues (Windows/Mac OS) and software applications.
  • Coordinate with vendors for hardware repair and warranty claims.
  • Perform system upgrades, patches, and software installations as required.
  • Maintain IT asset inventory and ensure timely updates.
  • Provide support for video conferencing tools and remote desktop access.
  • Escalate unresolved issues to higher-level support or relevant teams.
  • Create and maintain documentation for support processes, FAQs, and asset records.

Required Skills and Qualifications:


  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field OR a relevant diploma/certification (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician).
  • 13 years of experience in desktop support or a similar IT support role.
  • Proficiency in Windows OS (10/11), Microsoft Office Suite, and basic networking.
  • Hands-on experience with Active Directory, Outlook, remote support tools (e.g., TeamViewer, AnyDesk).
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple support tickets.
  • Customer-service orientation with a helpful attitude.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Experience supporting Mac OS, Linux, or mobile device management (MDM).
  • Familiarity with ITIL framework or ticketing tools like ServiceNow, JIRA, or Freshservice.

Work Environment:


  • On-site support (some roles may require rotational shifts or weekend availability).
  • Occasional travel to other office locations may be required.
