Job Description
Job Title: JATS XML Specialist (PDF to JATS XML Conversion)
Location: Remote / Work from Home
Experience: 2+ years in XML conversion, specifically JATS XML
Job Type: Contract / Project-based / Regular
Key Responsibilities:
- Convert scientific journal articles and books from PDF to structured JATS XML format as per NISO JATS Version 1.3 standards.
- Accurately tag article metadata including authors, affiliations, references, ORCID IDs, copyright statements, funding information, DOIs, URLs, and article identifiers.
- Perform quality checks and validate XML files against JATS DTD/schema.
- Collaborate with publishing and editorial teams to ensure delivery standards and accuracy.
- Use XML editing tools like Oxygen XML Editor or equivalent for conversion and validation tasks.
Skills Required:
- Hands-on experience with JATS XML (NISO JATS Version 1.3 preferred).
- Strong knowledge of XML, XSLT, XPath, and schema validation processes.
- Familiarity with publisher workflows related to journal and book conversions.
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain 100% quality under tight deadlines.
- Good communication skills for coordination with global teams.
Educational Qualification:
- Bachelors degree in Life Sciences, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related fields preferred.
Additional Information:
- Flexible work hours with possibility of remote work.
- Candidates with prior experience working on part-time or project-based XML conversions preferred.
