Job Description

    As a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) at Mahindra University in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering department, you will be involved in a project sponsored by the Aeronautics Research and Development Board (AR&DB), DRDO. The project focuses on the "Design Optimization of Turbine Nozzle Guide Vane Three-Dimensional Airfoils." Your responsibilities will include conducting Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations using commercial CFD software like ANSYS CFX for various designs of a turbine stage of an aircraft engine. This will involve tasks such as 3D CAD design of turbine blades, grid generation, CFD simulations, and post-processing of results. The objective is to obtain an optimal turbine stator vane design that minimizes aerodynamic losses. Collaboration with the Gas Turbine Research Establishment (GTRE), DRDO, will be an integral part of your work, and the research outcomes will contribute to the design of advanced combat aircraft engine turbines. The ideal candidate should possess an M.E/M.Tech degree from a tier 1 or tier 2 institution in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, demonstrating a keen interest in aerospace propulsion and proficiency in CFD. Consideration will also be given to candidates with a BTech degree and strong credentials. Furthermore, the selected JRF will have the opportunity to pursue a Ph.D. degree within the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering department of Ecole Centrale School of Engineering, Mahindra University, Hyderabad. In terms of compensation, the monthly salary for this position is Rs. 43,600 p.m. (Rs.37,000 + 18% HRA) as per DST standards, with deductions applicable if residing on campus towards mess fees. Mahindra University, formerly known as Mahindra Ecole Centrale, was established in 2014 through a collaboration between the Mahindra Group and the prestigious Ecole Centrale Group of Institutions in France. It transitioned into Mahindra University in 2020. The JRF will be based at the Ecole Centrale School of Engineering within Mahindra University. The project investigators for this research are Dr. Ravi K. Bompelly, Assistant Professor in the Dept. of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, and Prof. Debasis Chakraborty, Professor in the same department.
