Job Description
Job Title: Assistant General Manager Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
Location: Head Office, Colaba
Reports To: Head of Department (HOD), Corporate HSE
Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic AGM HSE with a minimum of 15 years in health, safety, environment, and sustainability leadership. The ideal candidate will have in-depth experience implementing and managing Environmental Sustainability Management Systems aligned with ISO standards, robust ESG initiatives, and a proven track record in the Indian construction contracting sector. This is a senior corporate-level role, reporting directly to the HOD, overseeing strategy, operations, compliance, and continuous improvement in HSE performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Strategy:
- Develop and lead the corporate HSE & Sustainability strategy in line with ISO (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 45001), GRI, BRSR and other ESG frameworks.
- Drive implementation of environment sustainability programs, integrating ESG principles into business processes and decisions.
- Systems Development & Management:
- Establish, maintain, and continually improve HSE Management System and Sustainability compliant with global standards.
- Champion sustainability initiativescarbon footprint reduction, resource efficiency, waste management, etc.aligned with corporate ESG goals.
- Compliance & Governance:
- Ensure compliance with national environmental, safety, and sustainability regulations and industry best practices.
- Oversee internal and external HSE audits, ESG assessments, and ensure readiness for board-level reporting and stakeholder reviews.
- Operational Execution:
- Support project teams and construction contracting operations with proactive risk assessments, HSE planning, and environmental safeguarding. Regular site visits is an integral part of this responsibility.
- Monitor performance metrics and lead incident investigations, root-cause analyses, and implementation of corrective actions.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Training:
- Drive cross-functional collaboration with Project, Engineering, Procurement, and Sustainability teams.
- Lead employee, contractor, and stakeholder training programs to promote environmental and safety consciousness.
- Reporting & Communication:
- Report HSE and ESG performance to HODand where requiredto Board or external stakeholders, demonstrating transparency, risk management, and progress against sustainability targets.
- Prepare and present HSE dashboards, ESG disclosures, and sustainability reports.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education:
- B.E. in Civil Engineering
- Full time recognized Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety (ADIS)
- Degree / Diploma in environment / sustainability is desirable
- Experience:
- Minimum 15 years in HSE leadership roles, preferably within the Indian construction contracting industry.
- Strong background in implementing Environmental Sustainability and ESG programs, with demonstrable outcomes.
- Technical Expertise:
- Proficiency in ISO standards relevant to HSE (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 45001) and sustainability frameworks.
- Familiarity with ESG reporting frameworks like BRSR and methodologies.
- Skills & Attributes:
- Strategic thinker with ability to translate ESG objectives into actionable roadmaps.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Analytical mindset, skilled in performance measurement, data-driven decision-making, and risk management.
