Job Description - Project Engineer / Senior Project Engineer - Fire & Safety / BMS (Data Centers)
Designation: Project Engineer - BMS / Senior Project Engineer - BMS
Experience: 4-6 Years (2A) | 8-12 Years (3A)
Key Responsibilities
Fire & Safety Systems
- Understanding and hands-on exposure to Fire Alarm Systems (FAS) including detectors, panels, cause & effect programming, and integration with suppression systems.
- Exposure to Public Address (PA), Water Leak Detection (WLD), and Rodent Repellent (RR) systems, including reviewing drawings and supporting deployment.
- Knowledge of fire suppression systems such as gas-based suppression (Novec/FM200/IG), pre-action systems, wet sprinklers, and high-pressure water mist (HPWM); ability to verify installations and vendor compliance.
Security & ELV Systems
- Experience in CCTV system design and implementation including camera placement, storage calculation, server sizing, networking, and commissioning.
- Exposure to Access Control Systems (ACS) and scanning systems (DFMD, X-ray, baggage scanners, biometrics) with understanding of integration into data center security architecture.
- Understanding of networking requirements for CCTV, ACS, and BMS systems.
BMS, PLC & SCADA Integration
- Knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS) including system architecture, IO summary preparation, graphics validation, and integration with HVAC/electrical systems.
- Exposure to PLC & SCADA systems for integration of safety and security subsystems, including logic validation and dashboard review.
- Knowledge of integration protocols (Modbus, BACnet, OPC UA, IEC) with exposure to third-party integrations such as energy meters, chillers, boilers, etc. on Modbus, BACnet, Zigbee, MQTT.
- Familiarity with customer system extensions like MQTT or Drawbridge solutions for BMS expansion.
Project Execution & Management
- Interaction with multi-disciplinary technical teams during execution to arrive at clear and successful implementation plans.
- Understanding of the vendor ecosystem and how vendors operate with stakeholders on large-scale projects.
- Responsible for overall project execution including site coordination, vendor supervision, and quality compliance.
- Project monitoring and reporting preparing project progress reports and presenting status updates to internal management / steering committees.
- Escalation management and issue resolution, along with risk identification and mitigation during project execution.
- Establish project scope, requirements, and timelines in alignment with contractual and customer expectations.
- Manage project billing, BOQ reconciliation, and EBOQ preparation, ensuring alignment with tender BOQ and technical specifications of ELV/BMS systems.
- Ability to highlight techno-commercial risks during execution and prepare mitigation plans.
- Capable of handling and coordinating with multiple vendors and subcontractors in parallel.
Commissioning & Documentation
- Active involvement in data center commissioning lifecycle (Cx-L2, L3, L4, L5 up to Final IST), including test witnessing and reporting.
- Verification and collection of handover documentation (HODs) including as-built drawings, OEM test certificates, commissioning reports, and O&M manuals.
- Ensure compliance with best practices in installation, design, and commissioning so vendor execution meets global standards.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong technical understanding of Fire & Safety, ELV, and BMS systems in data centers.
- Familiarity with integration protocols and third-party system interfaces.
- Ability to review vendor work, manage escalations, and ensure compliance with specifications.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD, MS Office, and project scheduling tools (preferably MS Project).
- Good communication skills in English and Hindi.
Education & Experience
- Bachelors degree in Electronics, Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechanical, or equivalent.
- Project Engineer (2A): 4-6 years of relevant experience in data center / ELV / Fire & Safety projects.
- Senior Project Engineer / SME (3A): 8-12 years of relevant experience with proven expertise in large-scale data center projects.
