About the Role
Xebia is looking for an experienced and hands-on SDE 3 Senior Data Engineer to lead the development of scalable data solutions. As a senior IC (individual contributor), youll influence architecture decisions, coach teams, and deliver high-performance data engineering systems for large-scale, enterprise environments.
Youll work across the full data lifecyclefrom ingestion and storage to transformation and analyticsleveraging technologies like Spark, Scala, SQL, Cloud Native tools, and Hadoop, in a fast-paced, agile environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of data pipelines using Apache Spark and Scala
- Architect cloud-native, scalable, and fault-tolerant data platforms (Azure preferred)
- Drive development of streaming pipelines using Kafka/Event Hub/Spark Streaming
- Guide system design with a focus on scalability, low-latency, and performance
- Work on structured and unstructured data, Data Lakes, and Medallion Architecture
- Collaborate with stakeholders, mentor junior engineers, and lead Agile squads
- Implement best practices for CI/CD, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and orchestration (Airflow/Oozie)
Must-Have Skills
- Apache Spark, Scala (or Java with strong preference for Scala)
- SQL and Data Structures, Query Optimization
- Hadoop and Distributed Systems
- Cloud-native architecture (Azure preferred)
- System Design, Big Data Design Patterns
- CI/CD: Git, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes
- Kafka/Structured Streaming
- Experience with NoSQL, Messaging Queues, Orchestration tools
Good-to-Have Skills
- Apache Iceberg, Parquet, Ceph, Kafka Connect
- Experience with Data Governance tools: Alation, Collibra
- Data Lakes and Medallion Architecture
- Metadata Management, Master Data Management
- Data Quality and Lineage frameworks
