Job Description
We are searching for a new Storage Backup Administrator who will work directly with our team members, outside development partners, data partners, and clients to administrate, install, deploy, configure, operate, and maintain system hardware and software related to internal or client environments, and SaaS products utilized across Bounteous to ensure the stability and integrity of information in compliance with organization policies and standards. The right candidate will be strong technically and a leader communicative, articulate, engaged with the ability to plan and to execute a plan.
The Backup Storage Administrator will have a comprehensive understanding of Azure, AWS, Veeam, SaaS applications & LTO storage systems, including configuration, automation and management. The role requires the individual be skilled in managing Cloud native storage systems, Dell and HPE equipment with capabilities in setup, troubleshooting, and optimization.
Responsibilities for backup administrator
- Ensure Support Guides and related documentation is up-to-date
- Able to work remote including facilitating incident calls, monitoring processes, and able to respond to phone calls from remote sites including home
- Collaborate with SaaS Admins to configure and schedule automated backups for SaaS platforms, Dev Ops, & cloud native work loads.
- Establish & Maintain Recovery Point Objective (RPO) & Recovery Time Objective (RTO) aligned with business needs.
- Fulfill organization compliance tasks such including mandatory training.
- Fulfill Backup / Restoration compliance audits with standards such as ISO/IEC 27001:2022, HiTrust
- Participate to support shift on Storage & Backup perimeter
- Enforce existing Global standards for Storage & Backup perimeter
- Perform daily monitoring and management of all backup related activities, including executing restore jobs, troubleshooting failed jobs, and initiating corrective action
- Perform test restores regularly to validate backup integrity and availability by conducting disaster recovery drills and documenting the outcome.
- Perform diagnosis, troubleshoot, and conduct root-cause analysis for any issues escalated on the storage and backup platforms
- Participate in the building, installation, configuration and testing of servers, storage, and backup infrastructure for new use, upgrades or lifecycle replacement
- Create and communicate reports for backup and storage environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in SaaS platform, API
- Experience in scripting (Python, Ansible, Bash, Perl, Shell)
- Experience in Veeam Virtual Tape Library management is considered an advantage
- Knowledge of iSCSI, SMB, NFS and CIFS shares networking protocols and Block Object storage types.
- Be an escalation point on all backup issues
- Knowledge of Disaster Recovery policies and procedures
- Knowledge of Cloud Platform (Azure, AWS), ESXi Virtualization technology basics
- Strong understanding of the Windows and Linux operating architectures.
- Knowledge of encryption of data at rest
- Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment with the ability to change priorities on the fly.
- Adheres to department and IT policies and procedures.
- Provide 24x7 IT operations support in a team on a rotation and on-call basis
- Develop and exhibit technical subject matter expertise on the assigned backup and storage systems along with associated processes and procedures
- Willingness to learn and share knowledge with other teams and team members
