Job Description
- Design, implement, and maintain database systems to ensure high performance, availability, and security.
- Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize queries, indexes, and configurations.
- Manage database backups, recovery processes, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Collaborate with development teams to design database schemas and optimize data models.
- Troubleshoot database issues, including performance degradation, connectivity problems, and data integrity concerns.
- Implement and maintain database security policies, including user access controls and encryption.
- Plan and execute database upgrades, migrations, and patching activities.
- Automate routine database administration tasks using scripts and tools.
- Provide support for database-related incidents and service requests as part of on-call rotation.
- Document database configurations, processes, and troubleshooting procedures for future reference.
III. Years of Experience:
- 4 to 10 years of hands-on experience in database administration and optimization.
IV. Educational Qualification & Certifications (Optional):
- BE in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (preferred).
- Relevant certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), Microsoft SQL Server DBA, or AWS/Azure database certifications are a plus.
V. Skill Set Required:
Must Have:
- Strong experience in database administration (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL).
- Expertise in performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies.
- Experience with database backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning.
- Knowledge of database security, user access control, and encryption techniques.
- Hands-on experience with database migration and upgrade processes.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Shell, Python, PowerShell) for automation.
Nice to Have:
- Experience working with cloud-based databases (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, GCP Cloud SQL).
- Knowledge of high-availability solutions (clustering, replication).
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices related to database deployments.
