Commvault Administrator - Chennai @ Inspirisys

Job Description

Commvault backup often includes responsibilities like installing, configuring, and maintaining Commvault backup software, monitoring backup jobs, troubleshooting failures, managing media agents and storage policies, and ensuring data integrity through regular testing of restores.

• Installation & Configuration: Install, configure, and administer Commvault software, including Media Agents, CommServe, and clients.
• Backup & Restore : BAU administration and support of Commvault backup environment. Oracle Standalone and RAC backups Performing db / FS restoration in DC and DR from Disk / Tape as per customer requirement for audit
• SQL Standalone and Always On Backups Performing db. / FS restoration in DC and DR from Disk / Tape as per customer requirement
• Backup Management: Schedule and monitor backup jobs, plan media rotation, and ensure backup integrity and success.
• Troubleshooting & Support: Diagnose and resolve backup failures, handle issues with Commvault components like catalogues, storage units, and policies.
• Performance Optimization: Configure features like multiplexing, multi-streaming, and disk staging to optimize backup processes.
• Data Management: Manage storage policies, copies, deduplication, and ensure data can be quickly restored in case of loss or failure. Commvault platform and its architecture, including policy-driven backup/restore principles.
• Platform Familiarity: configuring and maintaining various Commvault components, such as CommServe, Media Agents, and client systems.
• Agent Management: specific database agents like those for Exchange and SQL Servers & Virtual servers.
• Servers : Check for hardware issue / Firmware update / Commvault software upgrade, if required log ticket with OEM and resolve
• Storage: storage solutions, including SAN and NAS, and how Commvault integrates with them.
• Disaster Recovery (DR): Contribute to planning and executing disaster recovery strategies using Commvault for various platforms. Ability to configure fault-tolerant and disaster recovery features within the Commvault environment
• Other standard Backup responsibilities as a backup SME
