Using a proprietary AI model, it streamlines the claim follow-up process and automates various labor-intensive tasks.

Job Description:
- We are seeking a Principal Backend Engineer to lead the design, development, and scaling of our backend systems.
- You will play a critical role in shaping the technical foundation of our platform, working closely with product, data science, and infrastructure teams to deliver secure, reliable, and performant APIs.
- This is a unique opportunity to have significant ownership in an early-stage startup, helping us define best practices and build the backbone of our technology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Architect, design, and implement backend services and APIs using Python (FastAPI).
- Own and optimize our PostgreSQL database design, queries, and performance.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, frontend engineers, and data scientists to deliver features from concept to production.
- Establish coding standards, system design patterns, and best practices for backend engineering.
- Lead technical decision-making and mentor other engineers on the team.
- Ensure the backend platform is secure, scalable, and compliant with healthcare regulations.
- Take end-to-end ownership of projects, from requirements gathering to production monitoring and iteration.
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of professional backend engineering experience, with at least 3+ years working in Python.
- Strong expertise with FastAPI (or similar modern Python frameworks).
- Deep experience with PostgreSQL, including schema design, query optimization, and performance tuning.
- Proven track record of building and scaling production-grade backend systems.
- Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and performance analysis skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Self-starter with a bias for action and high sense of ownership.
- Experience in early-stage startups is a plus (but not required).
- Familiarity with healthcare technology, security, or compliance (HIPAA, SOC2) is a bonus.
