Our Enterprise Data & Analytics team is made up of deep expertise in data, data governance, data science, and enterprise-focused product management and solutions to deliver innovation through our Altisource Business units.
Due to its strategic importance to the company, this division has broad responsibility and exposure, and works closely with executive and business unit management to set priorities and high-impact goals.
Position Overview
The Data Custodian is a key resource within our governance framework that will coordinate closely with various areas of the business: Product, Data architecture, Data Scientists, Modelers, Analysts, Compliance, Legal and other Altisource Business Unit representatives to drive data objectives. This role will be accountable for controlling a unified view on enterprise wide data schemas and managing the data servers, backups, networks, and lineage of data across the organization. Working closely with our Infosec and other governance teams to enable technical standards, policies, business rule implementation and audit trails. This person will ensure ownership assignments across data assets, cataloging each data set and owning the updates, reporting needs, and accuracy of that information. The Data custodian is concerned with Risk and appropriate access to data as well, ensuring there is a process in place to capture access points. This position requires rigorous attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
Responsibilities:
- Curator of all data in the organization pulling together a unified view on all data and keeping that view fresh
- Gatekeeper of enterprise data through Data Catalog and potentially other security tools ensuring
- Role-based Access is authorized and controlled and we know who is using what data for what purpose at all times
- Data stewards are identified for each Data Asset company-wide
- Working with Data stewards on confirming definitions and classifications / uses and keeping that information fresh
- Central point of contact for all things enterprise data (capturing and knowing what data exists in the org, who owns it, appropriate use cases, tracking usage, etc.)
- Gathering reporting requirements on various business and technical teams (audit needs, CCPA, integrations with other systems, Daily reporting needs, etc.)
- Implementation of User access policies in collaboration with the Governance and security teams
- Ensures that changes to any data content and any red flags on security controls can be audited and that data stewards are involved / notified
- Managing requests and ensuring information can be pulled for regulatory needs (such as CCPA identification of where that data lives)
- This role will be involved in ensuring data security, Audit trail capability, capacity planning, continuity, technical standards for governance
Basic Qualifications:
- Data privacy understanding and executing solutions related to Data Privacy / governance practices
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business, or related technical field
- 5+ years of experience with one or more of the following:
- Heavily involved in analysis of externally sourced data
- Interaction with vendors and Product teams
- Data Profiling, Data Quality, Data Cataloging, and extensive Data Analysis
- Use case analysis, workflow and data flow modeling
- 2+ years experience in programming / query languages (e.g. SQL, MySql & Hive)
- 2+ year experience in Business Intelligence tools (Tableau, Microstrategy, Power BI, etc.)
- Proven experience in operational analysis and design
- Experience in Database design, database administration,with knowledge in Big data architecture (e.g. Hadoop / Snowflake / Redshift)
- Excellent working knowledge of storing, processing and transmitting data with proper physical and technical safe guards
- Experience documenting complex business systems problems and be able to provide recommendations and research of industry trends, business products, performance analysis, feasibility, measurable key performance indicators and cost impact.
- Demonstrated customer focus experience with the ability to evaluate decisions through the eyes of the customer, build strong relationships, and crate processes with the customers' viewpoint
- Strong verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate complex solutions in unassuming terms
Preferred Qualifications:
- Background in Data Catalog or Data Security software solutions (Collibra, Unifi, Data Guise, etc.)
- Experience with creative sourcing of new data sources to support a various BUs and use cases
- Background in data research, data mining, and analysis
- Experience with MS Visio and PowerPoint
- Ability to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies
- Detail oriented with a strong drive to enforce common standards
- Flexibility and durability in an ever-changing environment: always looking for ways to improve the process and ability to confront difficult circumstances in creative ways
- Understanding of the US Real Estate and Mortgage markets
