Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Broadband Engineer to join our Media and Communications BU. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Broadband testing (OpenWRT/RDKB/Prpl), automation, monitoring, and cloud platforms. This role is critical to ensuring the stability, security, and performance of over 1,300 Unix-based servers across production and development environments.
The successful candidate will possess excellent troubleshooting skills, a collaborative mindset, and hands-on experience with scripting, cloud systems, and monitoring tools. The role also includes participating in on-call rotations and engaging with third-party vendors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Understand Product specifications, network architecture, and customer requirements
- Design test plans, test cases and scenarios for broadband features
- Setup test environments including broadband CPEs, access networks and traffic generators
- Perform functional, performance, interoperability and regression testing
- Validate data throughput, latency, jitter and packet loss under different load conditions
- Verify broadband features across firmware versions and hardware revisions
- Develop and maintain test automation scripts
- Issue analysis and debugging
- Collaborate with various teams to root cause and verify fixes
- Cloud Certification testing
- Reporting and documentation
- Cross functional collaboration
Qualifications:
- 8+ years of software testing experience cross platform - Win, Linux and Mac
- Experience in Broadband testing (stack does not matter - can be Openwrt /RDK-B/ Prpl)
- Wi-Fi & Easy-Mesh Standards - Standards, Band steering, Mesh topology, AP Steering, Multi-AP spec
- Very Good Understanding of TR181 Specification & TR369 Protocol
- Debug tools & Issue Triage
- Experience writing testing documents (STDs/ATPs) and knowledge of various testing methodologies
- Knowledge of automation scripting and a programming language
- Experience with AI testing - an advantage
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, sharing knowledge and improving team processes.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Calm and composed under pressure, especially during incident response.
Optional :
- Experience with both frontend and backend testing of cloud-base services
- Knowledge of GCP cloud computing, kubernetes , MySQL, and REST API
