Major Roles and Responsibilities
Prepare Baked Goods
Bake breads, pastries, cakes, cookies, and other baked items according to recipes and standards.
Ensure consistency in taste, texture, and presentation.
Follow Recipes and Create New Ones
Accurately follow standard recipes and techniques.
Innovate and develop new baked items to refresh the menu or meet customer demand.
Measure and Mix Ingredients
Use precise measurements for ingredients.
Operate mixers, blenders, and other baking tools safely and efficiently.
Manage Baking Processes
Set and monitor oven temperatures and baking times.
Adjust baking methods based on weather, altitude, or ingredient changes.
Maintain Hygiene and Safety Standards
Keep the kitchen clean and sanitary at all times.
Follow food safety guidelines (e.g., HACCP, local health regulations).
Inventory and Stock Management
Monitor stock levels of baking ingredients and supplies.
Order and receive goods as needed, ensuring freshness and quality.
Time and Workflow Management
Plan baking schedules to ensure fresh product availability.
Prioritize tasks for efficient kitchen operation.
Cake Decorating and Presentation
Decorate cakes, tarts, and pastries using icing, glazing, and fondant.
Ensure high aesthetic standards in product presentation.
Training and Supervising Staff
Guide junior bakers or kitchen assistants.
Train team members in baking techniques and safety protocols.
Customer Service (if front-facing)
Interact with customers for custom orders or feedback.
Offer product suggestions and maintain a welcoming bakery environment.
