Job Description
Job Title: Core Database Administrator (DBA)
Department: IT / Infrastructure
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Core DBA to manage, maintain, and optimize our enterprise database systems. The ideal candidate will ensure database performance, integrity, security, and availability across multiple platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Database Management: Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain database systems (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL).
- Performance Tuning: Monitor and optimize database performance using tools and techniques such as indexing, query optimization, and resource management.
- Backup & Recovery: Implement and manage backup strategies, disaster recovery plans, and high availability solutions.
- Security: Ensure database security through access controls, encryption, and auditing.
- Monitoring & Alerts: Set up proactive monitoring and alerting systems to detect and resolve issues quickly.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve database-related issues including outages, slow queries, and replication errors.
- Automation: Develop scripts and tools to automate routine DBA tasks.
- Documentation: Maintain up-to-date documentation for database configurations, procedures, and policies.
- Collaboration: Work closely with development, infrastructure, and application teams to support business needs.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience as a Core DBA.
- Strong expertise in one or more RDBMS platforms (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, etc.).
- Proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, and shell scripting.
- Experience with database monitoring tools (e.g., OEM, Nagios, SolarWinds).
- Knowledge of replication, clustering, and high availability setups.
- Familiarity with cloud database services (AWS RDS, Azure SQL, etc.) is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred Certifications:
- Oracle Certified Professional (OCP)
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate
- AWS Certified Database Specialty
