Optical Network Deployment Engineer Backbone Network Capacity
Location : Bangalore
Experience: 4-15 years
Employment Type: Full Time
Employment Mode: Office (5 days a week)
Shifts : 24*5 (Rotational)
About the Role:
Infogain is seeking an experienced Optical Network Deployment Engineer to join our Network Infrastructure Team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on large-scale backbone network capacity deployments across IP and optical layers. The role involves hands-on network deployment, commissioning, migration, and capacity upgrade activities within data centers and PoP sites.
We are looking for a proactive professional with a strong foundation in DWDM, routing/switching, and optical technologies (Ciena/Infinera), who can thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Configure, build, and test new DWDM line systems including calibration, verification, and BERT testing.
- Deploy and commission optical devices such as Ciena and Infinera in new PoPs and data center builds.
- Perform device installation, software upgrades, migrations, and decommissioning tasks.
- Support network optimization (re-stripes, migrations, capacity upgrades, swaps).
- Create Bill of Materials (BoM) and Job Start Notifications (JSN) for deployments.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to develop documentation and production workflows.
- Troubleshoot and analyze network issues; identify and resolve root causes.
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure continuous process improvement.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong experience with Ciena 6500 systems (mandatory).
- Knowledge of DWDM components ROADM, Mux/Demux, amplifiers, transponders, and channel optimization.
- Hands-on experience with optical device migrations in data centers or PoPs.
- Ciena and/or Infinera certifications highly desirable.
- Excellent knowledge of TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, and MPLS.
- Familiarity with Chassis and line card installations, structured fiber cabling, and optical testing tools.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
- CCNA / JNCIA or equivalent certification preferred.
- Proven ability to work in fast-paced, collaborative environments with attention to detail.
