Director Engineering Non-MS Job Description
We are seeking a visionary and results-driven Director of Engineering to lead our technical teams in delivering high-impact, scalable solutions. This strategic leadership role requires a unique blend of deep technical expertise, engineering management experience, and hands-on project execution to drive innovation and excellence. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in modern web and mobile technologies, AI/ML, React Native, JavaScript, Java, and the MEAN/MERN stack, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and fully aligned with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Innovation
1. Architect, design, and oversee the development of web applications, microservices, and RESTful APIs using technologies like Node.js, Express.js, Angular, and React.
2. Lead the integration of AI/ML technologies to create data-driven, intelligent features that enhance business performance.
3. Drive the development of Hybrid and Native mobile applications using React Native for seamless cross-platform experiences.
4. Champion best coding practices, software architecture, and scalability, ensuring adherence to industry standards.
5. Implement Test-Driven Development (TDD) and QA methodologies, using frameworks like Mocha and Jest.
6. Optimize and manage the performance of NoSQL databases such as MongoDB and PostgreSQL, ensuring robust and efficient data models.
7. Drive cloud-first strategies with Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) for scalable, seamless deployments.
8. Mentor and cultivate a culture of continuous learning, ensuring adoption of emerging technologies.
9. Stay ahead of industry trends, providing strategic recommendations for technology adoption.
Engineering Leadership & Strategy
Define and execute the engineering vision, roadmap, and strategic goals aligned with business objectives.
Foster cross-functional collaboration across engineering, product, UI/UX, and QA teams to ensure smooth project execution.
Establish and track engineering performance metrics to optimize team productivity, software quality, and technical excellence.
Evaluate and integrate cutting-edge technologies to maintain a competitive edge.
Build, scale, and lead a high-performing engineering team, attracting and retaining top-tier technical talent.
Oversee risk assessment and mitigation strategies, ensuring resilience in engineering operations and projects.
Required Skills & Qualifications :
15+ years of experience in software development and engineering leadership, including 7+ years in senior leadership roles.
Expertise in MEAN/MERN stack (Node.js, Express.js, MongoDB, Angular, React) with deep technical proficiency.
Strong experience with microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and NoSQL databases.
Proven leadership in integrating AI/ML technologies into enterprise web and mobile applications.
Hands-on experience with Hybrid and Native mobile applications, particularly React Native.
Proficient in JavaScript and Java, with the ability to guide teams across front-end and back-end technologies.
Expertise in CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure).
Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, DevOps principles, and engineering best practices.
Exceptional problem-solving, strategic thinking, and organizational skills with a focus on scalable solutions.
Superior communication and interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating with technical and non technical stakeholders.
Industry experience in healthcare technology, telehealth, or interoperability standards is a significant advantage. Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; advanced certifications preferred.
Preferred Skills & Additional Expertise :
Experience with wireframing and technical design tools such as Lucidchart and Draw.io.
Strong grasp of emerging AI/ML trends and their real-world applications.
Previous experience leading engineering teams in healthcare or telecommunications industries.
