Position Summary... About the team:
Join Sam s Club s Loyalty and Reward Engineering team, where we design and build scalable solutions that enhance member experiences and drive business operations across both digital and physical channels. Our team operates in a collaborative, agile environment with a strong focus on innovation, reliability, and continuous improvement. We work with large-scale, distributed systems and partner closely with product, analytics, and engineering teams to deliver impactful products for our members.
What You ll Do:
- Design, build, and maintain scalable Software Solution, Data pipelines and ETL processes using modern data engineering tools (e.g. Spark, Airflow, Big Query, Databricks).
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to deliver high-quality features from concept to production
- Develop and optimize data models for analytics and reporting, ensuring data quality, reliability, and governance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Implement best practices for data security, privacy, and compliance.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, improve data workflows and system performance and contribute to code reviews and technical discussions.
What You ll bring:
- Bachelor s or master s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field.
- 3-6 years of experience in data engineering or software engineering with a focus on data systems.
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g. Java, Python, JavaScript, C#).
- Proficiency in SQL, Python, and distributed data processing frameworks (e.g. Databricks, Spark, Hadoop).
- Experience with cloud data platforms (GCP, Azure, or AWS) and orchestration tools.
- Strong understanding of data modeling, warehousing, and governance principles.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Basic knowledge of AI concepts and practical applications (e.g. familiarity with machine learning fundamentals, AI-driven APIs, or integrating AI features into applications).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with real-time data processing and streaming technologies (Kafka, Spark Structured Streaming).
- Familiarity with CI/CD, DevOps, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Experience with microservices, distributed systems, or large-scale web applications.
- Prior experience in retail or e-commerce environments.
