Job Description Application Production Support (Risk & PnL Domain)
Position Purpose:
Within the Global Markets department, the Position, Risk & PnL Domain manages a suite of applications responsible for calculating Start-of-Day (SOD) Risk, Intraday Risk, and PnL (Profit & Loss) figures for various business lines. The team provides 247 Production Support to ensure high availability, system stability, timely delivery of data, and SLA adherence using a Follow-the-Sun support model involving teams across the globe.
Responsibilities:
Direct Responsibilities:
- Provide first-class support to all users of the application systems in a timely and efficient manner.
- Liaise with development teams to communicate and resolve issues raised by business users.
- Work with global teams across regions to resolve production problems.
- Maintain a knowledge base of recurring issues and solutions using SharePoint tools.
- Build strong functional and technical understanding of systems and business processes.
- Reconfigure existing setups to improve system efficiency and meet business requirements.
- Track incidents using ITIL-approved methodologies (incidents, changes, requests, problems).
- Prepare application environments for releases and participate in pre-production testing.
- Support Tier-1 business-critical systems and overnight batches performing end-of-day revaluations and market risk scenario analysis.
Contributing Responsibilities:
- Work in rotational shift hours aligned to Singapore/London business timings (6:30am and 1pm IST shifts).
- Remain available for extended hours when critical issues require urgent resolution.
- Perform proactive system checks, availability monitoring, and performance improvements across global production environments.
- Coordinate deployment of applications in UAT & Production environments.
- Support weekend release and system health checks, coordinating with teams across New York, London, Singapore.
- Coordinate with internal teams, brokers, and vendors to restore services in case of incidents.
- Ensure thorough Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and manage problem/action items.
- Perform BAU tasks with strong incident management discipline.
Technical & Behavioral Competencies:
Technical:
- Unix / Linux Administration
- Windows OS basics
- Shell scripting & Python scripting
- Oracle SQL (queries, troubleshooting, validation)
- Application Production Support experience
- Batch job schedulers (Control-M / Autosys / Cron) if applicable
- ITIL knowledge (Incident / Problem / Change Management)
