Chartered Accountant (Finance Systems & Lending Accounting SME)
Location: Airoli, Mumbai (Permanent)
Travel: Must be willing to travel to Bahrain once a year for 23 months
Experience: 610 years
Qualification: Chartered Accountant (Mandatory)
Role Overview
We are hiring a Chartered Accountant with deep expertise in lending-related financial accounting, GL/sub-ledger design, financial posting logic and system-level accounting. This role requires strong hands-on experience in configuring, validating and reconciling accounting flows in a core banking / lending / FMS environment.
Note:
Profiles with ONLY Audit, FP&A, AP/AR, investment product control or purely reporting backgrounds will not be considered.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lending Accounting & Financial Reporting
- End-to-end accounting for loan origination, disbursement, amortization, repayments, reversals, preclosures & write-offs
- Strong knowledge of IFRS/US GAAP and lending-related accounting standards
- Handling interest accrual (EIR), fee accounting, deferred income and impairment/provision accounting
- Ensure trial balance integrity, suspense account review, and control account reconciliation
- Validate Chart of Accounts (COA) structure and GL mapping logic
2. GL / Sub-Ledger Design & Posting Rules (Critical)
- Configure and validate GL posting rules for all lending events
- Identify posting gaps, incorrect triggers and alignment issues
- Manage multi-branch accounting, inter-branch reconciliations, teller/cashier accounts and suspense accounts
- Fix end-to-end accounting flow defects across products
3. System-Level Accounting (Core Banking / FMS)
- Set up and validate accounting engines, sub-ledger posting logic and product-level accounting rules
- Work on integrations between:
- Core Lending General Ledger
- FMS Reporting Systems
- Legacy System (e.g., ORION) New Core System
- Review GL mapping tables and validate data migration opening balances
4. Reconciliation Specialist
- Perform daily, monthly and migration reconciliations (GL vs Sub-ledger)
- Handle full financial reconciliations for:
- Principal
- Interest
- Fees
- Suspense & control accounts
- Identify and resolve mismatches caused by posting rules or migration issues
5. FMS Functional Expertise
- Strong working knowledge of: GL, AR/AP, budgeting, fixed assets modules
- Validate financial statements generated from the system
- Support month-end and year-end close for lending institutions
6. SIT / UAT Hands-On Experience
- Prepare financial posting test cases
- Validate GL entries from each lending workflow (booking disbursement accrual repayment restructuring reversal)
- Work with QA/Tech teams to resolve posting logic defects
- Support go-live & stabilization activities
7. Practical Issue Resolution
Candidate must be able to solve real system issues like:
- Interest accrual mismatches (legacy vs new system)
- Sub-ledger showing balance but GL not updated
- Repayment posted incorrectly in GL
- Suspense account breakages
- TB out-of-balance issues
Required Profile
- Chartered Accountant with 610 years of relevant experience
- Must have worked in core lending accounting, GL/Sub-ledger design, financial posting configuration, and reconciliations
- Must have direct SIT/UAT exposure for financial postings
- Prior experience with core banking platforms / FMS systems is mandatory or highly preferred
- Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking and stakeholder communication
