Job Description
Cigna Healthcare is seeking a Java Backend Developer to design, build, and optimize scalable data pipelines and analytics solutions. In this role, you will work with complex healthcare datasets while ensuring secure, compliant, and efficient data processing that drives business insights, operational efficiency, and innovation.Job Title: Senior Software EngineerPosition: Java Backend
Your future duties and responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs using Java and modern frameworksBuild scalable data processing pipelines for high-volume healthcare data
- Collaborate with data engineering, security, and analytics teams to support product needsEnsure data quality, privacy, and regulatory compliance (HIPAA and PHI best practices)
- Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliabilityImplement integration patterns using microservices and cloud technologies
- Follow DevOps and CI/CD practices for automation and continuous improvement
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to iterative delivery
Must to Have:
- Strong hands-on experience with Java (Java 8 or above)Experience with Spring Boot and REST API development
- Proficiency in working with SQL/NoSQL databases
- Experience with distributed data systems or data processing frameworksStrong understanding of secure coding practices and data protection
- Experience working in Agile methodology with tools like JiraKnowledge of Git and CI/CD pipelines
- Good to Have:
- Experience in healthcare domain or regulated data environmentsFamiliarity with Kafka, event-driven architecture, and ETL processes
- Cloud platform experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Knowledge of big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark)Understanding of API security standards (OAuth2, JWT)
