Functional Solution Architect SAP (Manufacturing, S/4HANA Public & Private Cloud, Cross-Functional)
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Functional SAP Solution Architect with strong cross-functional expertise across core SAP modules and deep manufacturing industry experience. The candidate must have solid exposure to SAP S/4HANA (Public & Private Cloud), fit-to-standard methodologies, end-to-end process design, and understanding of cloud-based SAP landscapes.
Knowledge of SaaS solutions and BTP at a functional/extension strategy level is expected.
Key Responsibilities
Functional Solution Design
- Design SAP solutions across core functional modules (PP, MM, QM, PM, SD, FI/CO, EWM).
- Lead process design for end-to-end flows: Plan-to-Produce, Procure-to-Pay, Order-to-Cash, Record-to-Report, Manufacturing & Supply Chain.
- Ensure alignment to Clean Core, Fit-to-Standard, and SAP Best Practices.
- Support S/4HANA Public Cloud and Private Cloud functional design, scope definition, and configuration guidance.
Manufacturing Expertise
- Translate manufacturing business requirements into SAP-enabled solutions.
- Experience across Discrete, Process, or Batch Manufacturing.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes such as:
- Plan-to-Produce (P2P)
- MES process alignment
- Shop floor operations
- Quality Management
- Maintenance & Asset Management
- Understanding of MTS, MTO, ETO, MRP, capacity planning, and scheduling.
- Familiarity with SAP Digital Manufacturing (DMC) at functional/process level.
Cloud & SaaS Exposure (Functional Perspective)
- Functional understanding of S/4HANA Public Cloud and Private Cloud deployment models.
- Awareness of in-app & side-by-side extensibility using BTP (functional view only).
- Ability to define when to use SAP SaaS platforms such as Ariba, SuccessFactors, IBP, DMC, and third-party MES/QMS/WMS solutions.
Integration Awareness (High-Level)
- Understand functional integration touchpoints with SAP and non-SAP systems.
- Document integration requirements using OData, IDoc, API-based functional mappings.
- Collaborate with technical integration teams (CPI/BTP) for detailed design.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Conduct business workshops across Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Finance, Logistics, and Quality.
- Drive end-to-end process harmonization across multiple business units.
- Ensure alignment between business stakeholders, functional consultants, and technical teams.
Delivery & Governance
- Support solution proposals, functional architecture documents, Fit-Gap analysis, and blueprint creation.
- Provide functional governance across design, UAT, cutover, and deployment phases.
- Work with Data, Security, Integration, and Change Management teams from a functional viewpoint.
Required Skills & Experience
- 10 - 15+ years of SAP functional experience with strong solution architecture capability.
- Deep manufacturing industry exposure (Automotive, Industrial, Consumer Goods, Chemicals, etc.).
- Strong cross-functional understanding of SAP ERP/S/4HANA processes.
- Experience with S/4HANA Public & Private Cloud implementations.
- Knowledge of clean core, fit-to-standard, and cloud extensibility at conceptual level.
- Good understanding of SaaS solutions and process integrations.
Preferred Qualifications
- SAP certification in S/4HANA or Manufacturing.
- Experience with SAP Activate methodology.
- Exposure to digital manufacturing, Industry 4.0 concepts, MES/QMS/WMS integrations.
- Experience with multi-country rollouts or global templates.
