Job Description
Position : Senior Database Administrator
Department : Information Technologies
Experience : 2 to 5 years
Job Responsibilities:
Manage various databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems
Configure and maintain database servers clusters and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.
Apply data modelling techniques to ensure development and implementation support efforts to meet integration and performance expectations.
Build database systems of high availability and quality depending on each end user's specialized role.
Minimize database downtime and manage parameters to provide fast query responses.
Provide proactive and reactive data management support and training to the team. Perform tests and evaluations regularly to ensure data security, privacy and integrity.
Monitor database performance, implement changes and apply new patches and versions when required.
Independently analyse, solve, and correct issues in real-time, providing problem resolution end-to end.
Refine and automate regular processes, track issues, and document changes.
Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement. Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours. Share domain and technical expertise, providing technical mentorship and cross-training to other peers and team members. Skills Requirements:
Strong knowledge in MySQL DB administration having 6-10 years hands-on experience Support MySQL databases for production and development.
Participate in large, complex database/ application deployment, migration, patching, consolidation and upgrade projects. Setup and monitor backups; implement and test recovery techniques; diagnose and fix performance issues
. Strong knowledge in High Availability configuration on databases with Master- Slave and MasterMaster Replication or Group Replication. Experience with performance optimization (server/ query tuning).
Good Scripting knowledge in shell scripts.
Good to have experience with writing stored procedures, triggers and events. Experience with Percona toolkit.
Provision MySQL instances, both in clustered and non-clustered configurations
Ensure performance, security, and availability of databases Prepare documentations and specifications
Handle common database procedures, such as upgrade, backup, recovery, migration, etc.
Profile server resource usage, optimize and tweak as necessary
Proficient in use of NoSQL database in High Availability and fault tolerance environment (MongoDB / Cassandra).
Good to Have : - Knowledge of any other NoSQL databases like Cassandra. - Cloud platforms like AWS and their Services for Data and analytics. - Desirable to have a good understanding of Infrastructure architecture. - Knowledge of monitoring tools like Nagios, Grafana
