Architectural Responsibilities
- Design and Strategy Support: Assisting in the design and development of scalable architecture solutions that meet business and technical requirements.
- Documentation: Creating and maintaining technical specifications, architectural documentation, high-level design documents, and architecture decision records (ADRs).
- Technology Evaluation: Supporting the evaluation and selection of appropriate technologies, tools, and frameworks for software development and testing efforts.
- Standards and Best Practices: Defining, documenting, and enforcing coding standards, guidelines, and quality assurance best practices across teams.
- Alignment: Ensuring that technical solutions and testing strategies align with the organization's overall IT strategy and roadmaps.
- Risk Management: Identifying and assessing architectural and security risks and helping to develop mitigation strategies.
SDET Responsibilities
- Automation Frameworks: Designing, building, and enhancing automated testing frameworks and tools using programming languages like Java, Python, or C#.
- Continuous Testing: Integrating automated tests into Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines to enable continuous testing and rapid, reliable software delivery.
- Code-Level Involvement: Participating in code reviews with developers to ensure code testability and adherence to quality standards; they may also write sections of production code and develop unit/integration tests.
- Testing Coverage: Ensuring comprehensive test coverage for various testing types, including unit, integration, acceptance, system, and regression testing.
- Troubleshooting and Debugging: Engaging in troubleshooting and debugging efforts to resolve complex technical issues and identify system flaws.
Leadership and Collaboration Responsibilities
- Providing technical leadership, coaching, and mentoring to junior quality engineers on automation best practices and software design.
- Collaborating with developers, project managers, product managers, and business stakeholders
- Assisting in the planning, tracking, and scheduling of software deliverables and ensuring adherence to development schedules.
