Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) @ Manipal Hospitals

Job Description

Job Purpose

To ensure safe, accurate, and compliant use of radiation in cancer treatment by maintaining AERB compliance, radiation safety standards, and high-quality radiotherapy planning and delivery.

Key Responsibilities: As Radiation Safety Officer (RSO)

• Act as AERB-approved RSO for the hospital.
• Ensure compliance with AERB radiation safety regulations.
• Monitor staff radiation exposure and maintain TLD records.
• Coordinate AERB licensing, renewals, audits, and inspections.
• Conduct radiation safety training and audits.
• Handle radiation incident reporting and corrective actions.
• Treatment planning for External Beam Radiotherapy & Brachytherapy.
• Commissioning, calibration, and QA of LINAC, CT Simulator, TPS, Truebeam and associated equipment.
• Patient-specific QA and dosimetry.
• Support clinicians during complex treatment procedures.
• Maintain treatment planning and physics documentation.

Qualification & Certification

• MSc in Medical Physics / Physics from a recognized institute.
• AERB-approved RSO Certification (Radiotherapy Level II) Mandatory.
• Valid AERB registration.

Experience

• Minimum 2 years experience in a cancer hospital / radiotherapy setup.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of radiation safety and radiotherapy physics.
• Familiar with AERB guidelines and compliance processes.
• Good documentation, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams.
