Job Description

Technical Skills:

  • Adequate knowledge of human anatomy
  • Excellent proficiency in written English
  • Skillful in MS Word
  • Input relevant information/summarized information into a document, needing good keyboarding skills.

Job Profile:

  • Summarizing multiple medical records of a patient, picking up pertinent points from a report and preparing a concise and chronological report.
  • Generally associated with med-legal cases where it is pertinent to know the patient's past history before deciding on the merits/demerits of a case.

Qualifications:

  • A Medical degree would be preferred or should be a graduate
  • Minimum2 years of experience in Editing or at least 4 years of experience in medical reviewing.
  • An optional typing speed of 50 correct words per minute may be required.
  • Health care IT and pharmaceutical company agency experience.
  • Knowledge or understanding of bio-pharmaceutical, diagnostic, or life-science industry.
  • Expertise in English grammar and syntax.

Special Skills and Knowledge:

  • Accurately and efficiently conduct medical record review services.
  • Must possess excellent skills in English usage, grammar, punctuation and style.
  • Must be able to work independently, prioritize work activities and use time efficiently.
  • Abide by all HIPAA and associated patient confidentiality requirements.

Key Competencies:

  • Awareness & good knowledge of human anatomy, medical terminology, medical record analysis and medical law.
  • Knowledge of multiple software programs, including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and the Internet
  • To review US medical records to provide case discovery & Medical opinion.
  • Review all forms and documents pertaining to a case for errors, missing information, legibility.
  • Able to demonstrate and promote a positive team -oriented environment.
  • Possess the ability to manage change, delays, or unexpected events appropriately.
  • Able to work well under pressure and or stressful conditions.
  • Ability to follow instructions and respond to upper managements' directions accurately

Job Role

  • Take and transcribe dictation and type reports, records, patient histories, surgical procedure documents and miscellaneous correspondence from rough drafts, corrected copy, dictated notes or transcribing machine recordings; compile and type special medical reports; proofread medical reports to ensure accuracy and completeness within the specified turnaround time.
  • Look for inconsistencies and errors in reports and check with the physician or healthcare professional in order to correct them.
  • Recognize inconsistencies and mistakes in medical terms, referring to dictionaries, drug references, and other sources on anatomy, physiology, and medicine.
  • Return transcribed documents to the physicians or other healthcare professionals who dictated them for review and signature, or correction.
  • Review and edit transcribed reports or dictated material for spelling, grammar, clarity, consistency, and proper medical terminology.
  • Demonstrates exceptional communication skills by conveying necessary information accurately, listening effectively and asking questions where clarification is needed.
  • Ensures the content, format, and professional appearance of the reports are of the highest quality and in compliance with company standards.
  • Involved in the specifics of medical terminology, chronological sorting, reviewing, note taking, annotating gaps and indecipherable entries, verifying duplicative entries/records, inconsistencies, and spotting patterns.
  • Maintain confidentiality of files & all related information at all times.
