JD FIELD PRODUCER

ROLE OVERVIEW
We are looking for a Field Producer to play a critical role in the production of factual entertainment and natural history films. This role involves managing all aspects of field production, including logistics coordination, direction management, field crews, collaboration with scientists and local contacts, and ensuring authentic, ethical, and safe storytelling in challenging natural environments.
The ideal candidate is resourceful, detail-oriented, adaptable, and deeply passionate about storytelling and wildlife conservation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Pre-Production Planning
- Scout and assess locations focusing on wildlife movement, seasonality, and safety
- Coordinate permits, local crew, guides, scientists, experts, and logistics in remote areas
Production & Post-Production Coordination
- Oversee project timelines, budgets, and deliverables across multiple productions
- Schedule and monitor post-production workflows (editing, sound design, color grading)
- Ensure proper organization and archiving of footage, sound, scripts, and assets
- Track and coordinate deadlines across production and post-production teams
On-Field Shoot Management
- Lead shoot execution on-ground in close collaboration with the Director and DoP
- Manage equipment logistics, weather contingencies, and real-time crew requirements
- Ensure ethical wildlife filming practices with minimal ecological disturbance
Story Development (Field-Based)
- Conduct interviews, capture ambient sound, and adapt scripts to emerging narratives
- Maintain detailed field logs, shot lists, and behavioral notes for post-production
Team Management & Communication
- Act as the key communication bridge between directors, editors, producers, and external collaborators
- Manage hiring, onboarding, and contracts for freelancers and technicians
Safety & Compliance
- Implement safety protocols for crews working in wilderness environments
- Ensure respectful and mutually beneficial local community engagement
Client & Partner Coordination
- Liaise with broadcasters, NGOs, brands, and collaborators on deliverables and updates
- Handle NDAs, licensing requests, and festival submissions
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- Graduate in any discipline
- Proven experience as a Field Producer / Assistant Field Producer
(Preferably in wildlife, nature, or documentary filmmaking)
- Strong understanding of ethical wildlife filming practices
- Ability to work for extended periods in remote, rugged, and unpredictable environments
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
- Comfortable with camera setups, field gear, and basic equipment troubleshooting
- Highly organized in managing field notes, metadata, and reporting
- Knowledge of First Aid or wilderness survival is an added advantage
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally, often on short notice
- Flexible to work irregular hours, including weekends and early mornings
- Strong passion for wildlife conservation and impactful storytelling
