Job Description (JD): Mainframe Developer

Role Overview

We are hiring Mainframe Developers with strong hands-on experience in COBOL, CICS, PL/1, JCL, and Assembler. The candidate will work on development, enhancement, modernization, and support of enterprise mainframe applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, enhance, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL / PL1 / Assembler
  
• Work on CICS online and Batch processing applications
  
• Write and modify JCL for batch jobs, scheduling, and automation
  
• Perform debugging, performance tuning, and issue resolution in production/support environments
  
• Analyze requirements, prepare technical design, and implement solutions
  
• Work with datasets, file processing, and system utilities on mainframe
  
• Coordinate with business analysts, QA teams, and production support teams
  
• Follow SDLC processes and maintain proper documentation
  

Mandatory Skills

• Strong development experience in COBOL
  
• Good knowledge of CICS (online transactions, screens, maps)
  
• Hands-on experience in PL/1
  
• Strong expertise in JCL (job creation, execution, troubleshooting)
  
• Experience in Assembler (good understanding and debugging ability)
  

Good to Have Skills

• Knowledge of DB2 / IMS
  
• VSAM, GDGs, and File Handling
  
• Mainframe tools: TSO/ISPF, SDSF, Endevor/Changeman
  
• Exposure to Production Support / Incident Management
  
• Understanding of Agile/Scrum environment
  

Educational Qualification

• Bachelors Degree in Engineering / Computer Science / IT or equivalent
  

Soft Skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  
• Good communication and teamwork
  
• Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment
