Job Description
Role Overview
We are looking for a Business Analyst who has a strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile ways of working. The role involves working closely with business stakeholders, product owners, and development teams to gather, analyze, and translate requirements into clear and actionable deliverables.
The candidate will also support certain Project Management (PM) activities such as planning, coordination, and tracking, with scope to grow into more independent PM responsibilities over time.
Key Responsibilities
Business Analysis Responsibilities
- Work with stakeholders to understand business needs, objectives, and pain points.
- Elicit, analyze, document, and validate functional and non-functional requirements.
- Create and maintain artifacts such as:
- Business Requirement Documents (BRD)
- Software Requirement Specifications (SRS/FRS)
- User Stories, Use Cases, and Acceptance Criteria
- Ask the right questions to clarify requirements and avoid ambiguity.
- Act as a bridge between business, product, design, and development teams.
- Support solution design discussions and ensure requirements alignment.
- Assist in UAT planning, execution, and defect triaging.
SDLC & Agile Responsibilities
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of SDLC phases (Requirement, Design, Development, Testing, Deployment, Maintenance).
- Work in Agile environments using Scrum or Kanban frameworks.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies such as:
- Sprint Planning
- Daily Stand-ups
- Sprint Reviews
- Retrospectives
- Support backlog grooming and prioritization with Product Owners.
- Track requirements through the lifecycle to ensure traceability.
- Understand basic Agile metrics and reporting (velocity, sprint progress, etc.).
Tools & Documentation
- Use tools like Jira(or similar) for user story management, tracking, and reporting.
- Use Confluence (or similar) for documentation and knowledge sharing.
- Maintain requirement traceability and version control of documents.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams using standard Agile and documentation tools.
Project Management Support Responsibilities
- Support PM activities such as:
- Sprint and release planning support
- Task tracking and status reporting
- Risk and dependency identification
- Assist in coordinating between teams to ensure timely delivery.
- Help monitor project progress against timelines and scope.
- Support release management activities under guidance.
- With training and mentoring, gradually take ownership of select PM activities.
- Create and maintain project health, team productivity etc KPIs and discuss with internal / external stakeholders not limited to business review, new opportunity discussion.
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Business Analyst in software or digital projects.
- Strong understanding of SDLC and Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban).
- Hands-on experience with Jira, Confluence, or similar tools.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to document requirements clearly and concisely.
Good to Have
- Exposure to SAFe or PI planning concepts.
- Experience working in healthcare, or regulated domains.
- Basic understanding of Agile metrics and project tracking.
- Exposure to PM activities or willingness to grow into a hybrid BA/PM role.
Soft Skills
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to facilitate discussions and workshops.
- Proactive attitude and quick learning ability.
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
