Job Description
The Staff Engineer is a senior technical leader responsible for setting engineering direction, delivering resilient platforms, and elevating engineering excellence across squads. You will drive highimpact architectural decisions, mentor engineers, and ensure systems meet scalability, security, reliability, and performance goals.
Skills
- Programming languages: TypeScript, JavaScript (ES20xx), Python (exposure/optional).
- Frontend: React, Next.js.
- Backend & APIs: Node.js, Express.js, NestJS, REST, GraphQL.
- Architecture: Microservices, event-driven and distributed systems, Domain-driven design (DDD), SOLID, GoF patterns.
- Data & Storage: DynamoDB (data modeling, access patterns, performance & cost tuning), RDS, caching strategies.
- Cloud & Infrastructure: AWS (Lambda, EC2, S3, RDS, DynamoDB, CloudFormation, CDK), Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform.
- Architecture, Performance & Resilience: Advanced system design (DDD, SOLID, patterns), scalable/event-driven microservices, load & cost optimization, observability (metrics, tracing, structured logs), security (authN/Z, encryption, threat modeling) and high availability.
- Platform & Engineering Excellence: CI/CD automation, infrastructure as code, quality engineering (TDD, unit/integration/E2E/contract testing), operational readiness, performance profiling, governance and continuous improvement.
- Leadership & Product Mindset: Technical mentorship, cross-team influence, clear technical communication, customer empathy, data-informed experimentation (telemetry, A/B signals) and outcome-focused delivery across the product lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead architecture and system design for scalable, secure, event-driven microservice platforms.
- Drive engineering excellence: testing discipline (TDD), observability, performance and security best practices.
- Accelerate modernization and platform efficiency (cloud-native patterns, IaC, CI/CD automation, cost & reliability optimization).
- Mentor and elevate engineering teams while shaping cross-team technical roadmap and decision frameworks.
