Role Purpose
The role goes beyond managing day-to-day logisticsit demands a visionary yet hands-on leader who can redesign the current logistics framework, anticipate future capacity needs, and enable faster go-to-market (GTM) execution in line with business growth plans.
Strategic Accountabilities
Enterprise Logistics Strategy & Scale Readiness
Build a future-ready logistics architecture covering transportation, warehousing, depots, and dealer distribution.
Ensure logistics infrastructure, systems, and partners are fully prepared for volume scale-up and market expansion.
Transportation & Distribution Excellence
Own primary and secondary transportation strategy to ensure speed, reliability, and cost efficiency.
Drive reduction in Turnaround Time (TAT) through optimized routing, fleet utilization, and dispatch planning.
Strengthen dealer and distributor delivery performance to support aggressive GTM timelines across South India.
Inventory, Warehousing & Network Optimization
Lead inventory flow optimization from plant to warehouse, depots, and dealers.
Balance service levels with working capital efficiency by reducing excess stock, damages, and transit losses.
Redesign warehouse and depot operations for higher throughput, accuracy, and scalability.
Cost Leadership & Commercial Governance
Deliver measurable and sustainable logistics cost reductions through strategic sourcing, network rationalization, and process efficiencies.
Lead high-value negotiations with transporters, warehouse operators, and 3PL partners.
Establish enterprise-level SLAs, KPIs, and governance models for logistics vendors.
Digital Enablement & Process Transformation
Champion digitization across logistics operations, including tracking, visibility, MIS, and analytics.
Enable proactive planning and data-driven decision-making through strong systems and dashboards.
Ensure robust compliance with statutory, safety, and regulatory requirements across the logistics network.
Executive & Cross-Functional Leadership
Partner closely with Sales, Manufacturing, Finance, and Procurement leadership to align supply chain execution with business priorities.
Act as a strategic advisor to the President on logistics-led growth, risk mitigation, and cost optimization.
Build, mentor, and scale high-performing logistics teams with strong ownership and accountability.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Experience
15 - 20 years of progressive experience in logistics, supply chain, or distribution leadership roles
Proven track record in manufacturing-led logistics environments, preferably FMCG / Consumer Goods / Industrial Manufacturing
Prior experience managing large-scale logistics networks and capacity expansions
Leadership & Competencies
Strong strategic, commercial, and analytical mindset with hands-on execution capability
Ability to challenge legacy systems and think beyond conventional logistics models
Executive presence with the ability to influence at President / Board level
Deep expertise in transportation, warehousing, inventory optimization, and vendor management
Change leadership capability to drive enterprise-wide logistics transformation
Education
Bachelors degree in Engineering / Operations / Supply Chain / Logistics
MBA or advanced certification in Supply Chain / Logistics preferred
