Job Description
About the Role:
We are hiring skilled and detail-oriented US Mortgage Live Underwriters to join our lending team. This role is critical in evaluating loan applications, assessing borrower creditworthiness, and ensuring compliance with lending regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review loan applications and supporting documents (income, credit, property valuations)
- Analyze financial statements, tax returns, employment history, and debt-to-income ratios
- Calculate borrower qualifying income using salary, hourly wages, commission, bonus, rental, Paystubs, W-2s and self-employment income using business bank statements and schedules like C, K-1, 1065 and 1120S etc.
- Review appraisal reports, AVMs, and residential e-valuations documentation.
- Review title, lien position, and ownership documentation
- Prepare underwriting summaries and recommend loan structures
- Identify red-flags and document conditions and stipulation in the LOS ( Encompass)
- Proactively communicate with the processors through the underwriting workflow for final CTC
- Communicate lending decisions clearly to stakeholders
- Reconcile complex accounts and prepare daily aging reports.
Required Qualifications:
- HSC and Bachelors degree (mandatory)
- Strong understanding of credit risk assessment using 4 Cs methodology.
- Knowledge of income calculation including self-employed borrowers (both full doc and bank statements)
- Familiarity with LOS and underwriting systems preferably encompass
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Skills Required
- Typing speed: 25 WPM with 80% accuracy
- Pattern recognition and problem-solving
- Enough Mortgage knowledge
