Job Description
- Lead and manage the design team, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to engineers working on heavy structural projects.
- Oversee the conceptualization, detailed engineering of heavy structural components, such as bridges, industrial buildings, offshore platforms, steel structures, and other large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Ensure that designs are in compliance with industry standards, local codes, and regulations, ensuring structural integrity and safety.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to align the design process with project timelines, budgets, and objectives.
- Review and approve all design documents, drawings, and calculations to ensure quality, accuracy, and completeness.
- Implement best practices in structural design, utilizing cutting-edge software and design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, STAAD Pro, Tekla).
- Conduct structural analysis and simulations to verify design viability and perform optimization when necessary.
- Identify potential risks and detailing challenges early in the project and proactively develop mitigation strategies.
- Liaise with clients and external partners to understand project requirements and provide technical expertise during the detailing phase.
- Monitor and evaluate team performance, ensuring that detailing work is completed to the highest standards, on time, and within budget.
- Stay updated with the latest trends, technologies, and innovations in structural detailing, and incorporate them into detailing strategies when appropriate.
- Maintain a strong focus on sustainability and cost-effectiveness while ensuring the designs meet performance and safety criteria.
- Prepare and present technical reports, progress updates, and presentations to senior management and clients as needed.
- Education: Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience:
- Minimum 0-1 years of experience in designing heavy structures.
- Proven experience in managing large-scale structural projects from conception to completion.
- Expertise in structural design software (AutoCAD, STAAD Pro, Tekla, etc.) and familiarity with 3D modeling and BIM (Building Information Modeling).
- In-depth knowledge of local and international building codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
- Experience working with multidisciplinary teams and collaborating with external consultants and clients.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to handle complex technical challenges.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Strong knowledge of materials, fabrication techniques, and construction methods related to heavy structures.
- Ability to interpret and review detailed engineering drawings and designs.
- Office-based with occasional site visits as required.
- Ability to travel to project sites for inspections and assessments.
