Job Description
The SAP RAP Lead (Manager Grade) is responsible for architecting, developing, and leading SAP RAPbased applications on the SAP S/4HANA platform. The role combines hands-on technical leadership, solution design, and team & stakeholder management, ensuring delivery of scalable, secure, and cloud-ready SAP applications.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Architecture
- Lead end-to-end RAP application design and development (Managed & Unmanaged scenarios)
- Define clean core, extensible S/4HANA architecture using RAP, CDS Views, and OData V4
- Design behavior definitions, service bindings, projections, and authorization concepts
- Ensure performance optimization, scalability, and security compliance
- Drive code quality, design standards, and best practices
Development & Hands-on Contribution
- Hands-on development in:
- ABAP RAP
- CDS Views (Basic, Composite, Consumption)
- OData Services (V4 preferred)
- Fiori Elements & UI integration
- Implement:
- Draft handling
- Validations, determinations, and actions
- Business events and extensibility patterns
- Support integration with SAP BTP, APIs, and external systems
Team & Delivery Management
- Lead and mentor ABAP/RAP developers
- Perform design reviews, code reviews, and technical coaching
- Own technical estimations, risk management, and solution delivery
- Coordinate with functional consultants, architects, and QA teams
- Ensure on-time, high-quality delivery across multiple workstreams
Stakeholder & Client Engagement
- Act as technical SPOC for clients and internal leadership
- Translate business requirements into scalable RAP solutions
- Participate in solution workshops, design discussions, and presales
- Provide technical guidance to senior stakeholders
Governance & Innovation
- Drive SAP Clean Core, Cloud Readiness, and Extensibility strategy
- Evaluate and adopt new SAP technologies and RAP enhancements
- Contribute to reusable frameworks, accelerators, and best practices
- Ensure adherence to SAP Activate and Agile delivery models
Required Skills & Qualifications
Mandatory Skills
- 811 years of SAP ABAP experience
- 2+ years of SAP RAP (Restful ABAP Programming Model)
- Strong expertise in:
- ABAP OO
- CDS Views
- OData (V2/V4)
- Fiori Elements (List Report, Object Page)
- Solid understanding of S/4HANA architecture
- Experience leading technical teams
Good to Have
- SAP BTP integration experience
- SAP Workflow (Classic / Flexible)
- Exposure to CAP or side-by-side extensions
- Performance optimization & SQL tuning
- Agile/Scrum experience
Manager-Level Expectations
