Job Description

Job Title:

Maintenance Engineer / Sr Engineer Laser, Robotics, Automation & Vision

Knowledge and Skills

1. Perform preventive & breakdown maintenance on Laser systems (Fiber/CO), including optics, chiller, power supply, beam alignment, and safety interlocks.

2. Maintain and troubleshoot Industrial Robots (ABB/FANUC/KUKA/Yaskawa): teach pendant operations, backups, calibration, and basic programming.

3. Support Automation systems: PLCs (Mitsubishi, Omron, ABB), HMIs, VFDs, Servo drives, sensors, and pneumatics.

4. Maintain Vision systems (Cognex/Keyence): camera setup, lighting, lenses, calibration, recipe management, and fault diagnosis.

5. Diagnose electrical, electronic, and control faults using drawings and manuals.

6. Calibrate laser systems, align optics, and optimize beam quality for precision cutting/marking on metals, plastics, and composites.

7. Ensure machine safety, LOTO compliance, statutory checks, and 5S practices.

8. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to validate processes and implement engineering changes in Kaizen, cost saving, manpower optimization and Poka Yoke.

9. Support installation, commissioning, and acceptance of new equipment.

10. Maintain spares inventory, critical spare parts, maintenance logs, checklists, and SOPs.

11. Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) for breakdowns using tools like 5-Why, FMEA, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

12. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and willingness to work in shifts.

Experience and Education:

1. Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or Automation

2. 5 to 10 years of hands-on experience with industrial laser micromachining systems, vision-guided automation, and multi-axis motion control.

3. Experience in Laser sources, optics, galvo/scanners, chillers, Robotics troubleshooting & recovery, PLC I/O diagnosis, basic ladder logic understanding, Vision tools: pattern matching, measurement, presence/absence, Electrical panels, sensors, pneumatics.
